- Times Picayune Issues a Barrage of Scathing Editorials Focused on Juvenile Reform.
In a unique display of media attention, the New Orleans Times-Picayune issued a 5-part editorial series highlighting the problems in Louisiana's juvenile justice system and calling for specific reforms. Highlights include the failures of the now infamous juvenile prison in Tallulah and the need to close the facility and reallocate funding to more effective community-based alternatives, and the inherent limitations of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections in rehabilitating young people.
